Al Gaffal Dhow Race 2019The 29th Al Gaffal Dhow Race will kick start at the small desolate island of Sir Bu Nair, advances towards the east for 50 seafaring miles to the Moon Island before terminating at the iconic Burj Al Arab. Over 100 traditional boats measuring 60 feet (18 meters) each will partake in the long-distance sailing contest organized by DIMC.
The Emiratis take great pride in participating in this Dhow Race as it reminds them of the days when pearl diving was a key occupation. By partaking in the race, younger generations are making a commendable contribution in keeping the skills & traditions alive whilst extolling their forefathers.
